Poetry

So, I found the following poem in some of my scribbles from about three years ago:

Dirge of the Mama

Am I a horrible mother?

Tonight, my son—he lied.

I blew my top and I’ll admit

I gave him quite a fright.

Am I a horrible mother?

Tonight I lost my cool;

I did not hit—

I did not spank—

But by God, I wanted to.

I’m not a horrible mother

I want the best for you

One day, my son,

You’ll understand

When your child lies to you.

I still feel this. Sooooooooooooooo often.
