Vacation in Paradise

Day Two Writing 101: If you could zoom through space in the speed of light, where would you go right now?

I love this

place.

Warmth

and colors

surround me

like the hug of a sweater.

Relaxing. Quiet.

Warm, sunny yellow.

Verdant, lush, tropical greens.

Blue shimmers and

white caps

skirt along the wall.

I lean back,

absorbing the silence.

It wraps me,

comforts me

like a shawl

in winter.

Eyes closed,

I can almost hear the waves…

“MAMA! MAMA, HE LIT A MATCH!”

I sigh,

open the door,

leaving the silence

of my closet

and the colorful,

wonderful,

sound-absorbing clothes

behind

once more.

  1. How wonderful your imaginary space sounds. I took the prompt literally and wrote about Florence

  2. This is great! Never guessed it was a closet! You had me feeling all warm and cozy and so true about Mrs.Wesley and the apron over her head 🙂 You can make any spot a private spot.

  3. Beautifully written, Casey! Love the reference to clothes before we realise we’re in a closet. Mrs Wesley used to sit in a chair with her apron over her head. No closets! And no room with so many children!

  4. Love this- the peace and quiet of a closed cupboard. So soothing… Sometimes, If I could transport myself away, knowing my son’s safe, of course, then I would. Maybe I just need to create a ‘mental cupboard’, a quiet place I can retreat to whilst still physically being here.

  5. Super! I relaxed in the warmth, and then was horrified at the lit match (once a mother, always alert), and was sorry to come out of the closet. After this, I could imagine myself marching upstairs or downstairs -whatever with a furious temper building up… 🙂
